Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injury is treated using autologous adipose-derived stem cells. This means that your own stem cells are used to treat your injury. Stem cells are removed from you by a small biopsy of fat which is rich in stem cells. The stem cells are extracted from the fat and then grown in tissue culture for two weeks. At that time the cells are injected into the intrathecal space (the spinal cord space) by lumbar puncture. The procedure is carried out in the state-of-the-art crystal clinic in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is relatively painless and very safe. You then return home and continue with aggressive rehab. This procedure has been found in a Mayo Clinic study to result in a tremendous return of function and the ability to walk in most, but not all patients treated.
